Red Square Book Festival 2019
This year it was the fifth Red Square Book Festival which lasted for 5 days gathering together writers, publishers, readers, musicians and actors. All the square was covered with tents holding bookshelves, and big and small stages were built for concerts, master-classes, presentations of new books and interviews with the authors.
During these 5 days there were 750 events all together. My favorite and long expected one was the public talk with a very significant modern Russian writer Evgeniy Vodolazkin, the author of the bestsellers “Aviator” and “Lavr”. He presented his new novel “Brisben”, a novel created in combination of music and literature.
Year 2019 is the year of the Theatre in Russia. The 6 of June is also the Day of the Russian Language which is traditionally celebrated on the day the greatest Russian poet, Pushkin was born. “Pushkin Gala”, a brilliant opera concert was given at the closing night of the Book Festival. The artists of Stanislavskiy and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre sang the most popular arias from the operas based on Pushkin’s novels: “The Tale of Tsar Saltan”, “The Queen of Spades”, “Eugene Onegin” and others.
Such great time it was for literature and music lovers!
