Mher Chatinyan’s Art World
Mher Chatinyan was born in Armenia in the city of Kirovokan, now Vanadzor in 1989. He studied painting at the State Institute of Vanadzor. At present time he is working and living in Erevan. The exhibitions of Mher Chatinyan Art are held both in Armenia and abroad. The most significant ones among them were done in Slovakia, Georgia, Italy and Russia. In 2017 his first exhibition called My Love, Armenia was organized at the Cultural Centre of Armenia in Moscow. At that exhibition over 100 paintings were introduced to the public, the paintings so much colorful and lit by the sun that it made Mher’s painting style immediately recognized and appreciated.
The bright and vivid colors in Armenian painting art are natural for the people living under the shining sun nearly all year round. There is no real winter in this country compare to Russia. Mountain landscape of different seasonal colors takes a big part in Mher’s painting. His style preserves the national painting character and yet he is more then a painter of one particular country. He is hereditary a painter as his father ant grandfather were artists, too. There was an exhibition Three ages they did together when Mher was 20, his father 50 and grandfather 80.
Mher says that he loves painting in open air. He stayed several weeks in Holland and found it difficult to paint there as the days were rainy, misty and grey. He gets inspired by his country landscape, mountain chains and sunny weather where his bright talent is blooming. Traveling a lot he likes to do paintings of different cities but his favorite ones are the houses of old towns of Armenia and Georgia.
The floristic genre is really a remarkable part of his paintings. The sunflowers in contrast of green, red, blue and yellow are colorful and unpredictable in motion. Captured at the peak of blooming or at the moment of wilting, they always look dramatic. He likes painting flowers as it releases his freedom of an artist and makes him able to create something on the border of mind work and fantasy.
“I see a man as a part of the nature, I don’t analyze the character of a person while painting, I do his image, I catch the personality at the first glance. The inner world of a person attracts me, for me a portrait is a symbol not a photo”- says Mher Chatinyan. Look at these beautiful gallery of women’s portraits: their dark eyes as if mesmerizing you!
