Ilgiz Falzulzyanov, a Master of Jewelry Art
Ilgiz Falzulzyanov is the only jeweler after Faberge who was honored to present his collections at Moscow Kremlin Museum. It looks like the Art of Ilgiz is getting known as national treasure nowadays.
Born in Zelenodolsk, Tatarstan, he graduated from School of Arts in 1990 and started working as an artist creating paintings on silk and stained glass window. Later his interest turned into creating jewelry, not having a professional background in this particular work, he managed over the years to find his own methods in crafting and it became his unique style.
After becoming a well-known artist in jewelry making in Tatarstan he moved to Moscow, to the life full of new prospects, where he found national and international fame. He says: “I felt that the time of another big challenge has come. You feel it fisically, too, as if the air you breathe is getting not enough. I believe every person, whose work is to create, will understand me, we always feel the time of making a change”.
His biggest personal achievement has been to create a unique “hot enamel” technique. He is doing the impossible combining enamel, which starts melting at the temperature of 850 degree and gold which melts at 900. It requires very high professional skills of a master and his inside feeling of the material, therefore his jewelry crafting method cannot be applied to mass production, it can only exist in one and unique piece. He is called Champion in Enamel in international jewelry art society.
Ilgiz seems to combine different enamel techniques existing in the world, but all these combinations are used to represent the masterpiece born in his imagination — from the idea to a luxury jewelry piece.
“Sometimes I think, says Dina Nasirova, his wife and Director of Ilgiz F, that to create something more beautiful and elegant is just impossible, but after a while Ilgiz comes up with another jewelry piece and I again feel fascinated. It just proves that inspiration, fantasy and beauty are endless”.
Ilgiz Fazulzyanov has won International Jewellery Design Excellence Award (as famous as Oscar in Jewelry Art), as well as many other Russian and international rewards. He is the only modern Russian jeweler whose works are sold at the auctions of Christie’s (London) and Bonham’s (New York). His most known jewelry pieces are done in the style of Art Deco and Art Nouveau, his exquisite enamels made him an outstanding artist in the World of Jewelry.
